Mahathai Concrete Project

Some of our time in Thailand was spent in Mahathai 3. The team there had already built a community center (or sala as they called it?) in this area. It is basically a large swamp-like area where the poorer people have set up home. * Because of the terrain, the sala really needed a concrete pad out front--the dirt and rocks would eventually wash away in the rain without it. We all helped in the grading process, and the boys went back a few days later and did the actual concrete work. I put together this slide show from these particular pictures. Enjoy!

*When explaining this to Maggie, I related it to the Native Americans here. The government moved them to some dry, barren, desert land out west to do them a "favor." Not exactly the same, but similar with swamp land.
