Worth mentioning.

Dear John,

Yes, you did invite our community group over to our house last night, and yes, as always, we are in the middle of approximately 5, 233 projects. We were out of town for the weekend, and I was slightly stressed at the amount of cleaning I wanted done by last night. As you have witnessed, it is just a tidbit difficult to get a significant amount of cleaning done with small ones under foot. That being said, I wanted to let you know that it meant the world to me yesterday when you showed up during your planning TO LOAD THE DISHWASHER. It was really all you had time to do, but the effort and the gesture was certainly equal to hiring a maid service for the day. I think I shall store this one away and pull it back out one day when we women are sitting around talking about how great our husbands are. Oh yeah, well my husband will drive home in the middle of the day just to do the dishes for me...

Much love,

Amy

You won't believe this....Mitch doesn't read your blog and often hears of your posted stories through me. However, I DIDN'T share with him the story of how John came home to help with the dishes. He surprised be by coming home today after lunch. Here was our conversation:

Me: "Hey Honey, what are you doing home at this time?"

Mitch: "I thought I'd help you get caught up since I've been gone so much in the evenings, tied up in meetings. What can I do for you?"

Me: "Did you happen to read Amy's blog this past week?"

Mitch: "Nope."

Me: "Well, the dishes need to be unloaded and loaded in the dishwasher, is that ok?"

Mitch: "Great, I'll get right on it."

And that was my sweet surprise from my husband today. He just left to go back to work, the dishwasher is stirring, the laundry is in the dryer, and my two little ones are napping. Andrew and I are sitting in the floor together putting winter clothes on hangers while listening to Allison Krauss. Life is good.
